restaurant closings in August 2024, Brampton, Burlington, Oakville.

Some well-loved restaurants in Brampton, Oakville and Burlington closed this past August. From pizza spots to bars and grills, the local community will miss these places.

Wared Mediterranean Resto

Prominent Middle Eastern restaurant shuts down in Oakville while new one takes its place

The restaurant closed after one year of business and was known for its diverse menu of Middle Eastern cuisine and various lunch and breakfast items. Shortly after its closure, The Bloom Coffee Restaurant and Lounge opened.

The restaurant serves various Middle Eastern-inspired dishes, as well as coffee, teas and shisha.

According to Bloom Coffee’s official website, this is the second location, following its Mississauga shop at 3525 Platinum Dr.

The reason for Wared Mediterranean Resto closing is unknown.

 Lone Star Texas Grill

Brampton chain restaurant closes

The Lone Star Texas Grill location on West Drive, near Highway 410 and Queen Street East, closed on August 18, before its lease ended on September 1.

The restaurant’s CEO, Mark Findlay, confirmed in an email to INsauga.com, “We were fortunate enough to relocate 99 percent of our staff to other locations and will continue to look for viable sites to re-enter the Brampton/Mississauga area with our recently re-imagined Lone Star Cantina, which recently opened in Whitby.”

The restaurant, known for its Tex-Mex cuisine including fajitas, steaks and margaritas, no longer has a presence in Peel Region. However, nearby locations remain in Milton, Oakville and Etobicoke. There are currently 20 Lone Star Texas Grill locations across Ontario and one Lone Star Cantina.

Blaze Pizza

Blaze Pizza closed its Burlington Centre location.

When Blaze Pizza opened in Burlington in 2019, it was met with much fanfare, partly because NBA superstar LeBron James was part owner. The restaurant quickly gained popularity for its build-your-own pizzas.

While the company has not provided an official reason for the Burlington closure, several factors have been suggested by customers online. Some pointed out that the lack of a direct mall entrance reduced foot traffic, while others cited rising costs as a challenge.

Despite these setbacks, Blaze Pizza remains in a growth phase across North America, with its overall valuation recently reported at $250 million.

LeBron James, an early investor in Blaze Pizza, now owns 19 franchises and has reportedly turned his initial investment into a $35 million profit.

The nearest Blaze Pizza is in Oakville and Mississauga.
