Residents of a normally quiet Brampton neighbourhood say they are scared after gunmen fired several bullets into a home early Wednesday (Dec. 18).
There were no injuries, but several bullet holes were found in the house and in cars parked on the driveway on Senwood Street near McLaughlin Road and Wanless Drive.
Four residents of the home — all renters — say they were woken around 2:30 a.m. by the gunfire.
One resident on the street said that it sounded like machine gun fire and believed that 26 shots were fired.
Police have little information to go on at this point but are reviewing video surveillance cameras from the neighbourhood.
One report indicates two shooters may have been involved.
Investigators believe it was a targeted shooting but it is not known who they were targeting or the reason why the home singled out for the attack.
Neighbours told reporters they were awakened by the gunfire and shocked that the violence was hitting so close to home.
One resident said he first moved to Brampton the city was quiet and peaceful.
“Not anymore,” the resident to INbrampton.com. “Brampton is now a dangerous place. It’s not what it used to be.”
