An inspection of luggage coming through Pearson Airport has uncovered more than $200,000 worth of cocaine.

The RCMP reports that officers Canada Border Services Agency found the drugs during a secondary search of passengers arriving from Kingston, Jamaica flight on Oct. 24.

According to investigators, approximately seven kilograms of the powdered drug was found concealed inside the baggage of a person who was passing through customers.

Two people from Toronto have since been arrested:

Shane Audle Black, 37, is charged with importing a controlled substance, possession of drugs for trafficking and conspiring to commit an indictable offence.

Oshin Yulanda McLeod, 29, is charged with conspiring to commit an indictable offence.

Police said the approximate street value of the cocaine that was seized is $210,000.

The pair were remanded in custody and appeared in Brampton court in October.

“The illicit importation of drugs fuels organized crime, overwhelms our public health system and devastates communities and families,” said Inspector John McMath Officer in Charge, RCMP Toronto Airport Detachment. “Thanks to our partnership with Canada Border Services Agency, together we are defending our borders and keeping drugs off the streets.”
