2 people charged with gun and drug-related offences after police search in Brampton

Two people have been charged after a random police check in Brampton led to the discovery of a loaded gun and a quantity of drugs.

On Friday (May 31), Officers from the Strategic Tactical Enforcement Policing investigated two individuals in the area of Main Street North and Church Street East.

During the investigation, a loaded Glock 26 9mm handgun was found along with a quantity of drugs.

Laud Barkers-Woode, an 18-year-old man from Brampton, was arrested and charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Police say Barkers-Woode is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

A youth from Brampton was also arrested and charged with multiple criminal offences which include possession of a loaded firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, and two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

He was held for a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.

Peel police have not shared any further information regarding the youth’s identification, including his name or an image, as he is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, which prohibits the release of a young person’s name.
