$174K in drugs, guns seized leads to over 20 charges for Brampton driver: police

Multiple guns and more than $174,000 worth of cocaine and fentanyl have been recovered following a Brampton man’s multiple runs from the law in Thunder Bay, police say.
Officers with the OPP were following up on an investigation when they attempted to stop a vehicle and driver in Thunder Bay on Monday.
But police say the driver took off and fled the scene on foot.
A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded handgun, a magazine, and “large amounts of cocaine, crack cocaine and fentanyl,” police say.
Police identified the suspect and tracked them to a residence in Thunder Bay, and say the suspect again tried to escape on foot following a traffic stop.
The suspect was arrested by police shortly after at a nearby residence, and officers say they found another loaded handgun, crack cocaine and fentanyl during the investigation.
A home on Margaret Street in the city of Thunder Bay where another three firearms, an undisclosed amount of cash and drug trafficking paraphernalia were found, police say.
The drugs have a street value of around $174,763, police said.
The OPP says a 27-year-old Brampton resident has been arrested and charged with over 20 combined offences including seven counts of possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order, two counts each of possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl and possession for the purpose of trafficking crack cocaine, and two counts of unauthorized possession of a weapon.
