A 17-year-old girl was injured after falling from a Canada’s Wonderland ride.

The girl fell six to 12 metres from the ‘Swing of the Century’ ride at Canada’s Wonderland on Thursday (July 11), York Regional Police told multiple news outlets.

Emergency crews were called to the amusement park in Vaughan around 2:35 p.m.

The teen reportedly suffered minor injuries in the fall and was transported to hospital.

Reports indicate she had a medical episode before the fall and police said it is a “medical-only investigation.”

Canada’s Wonderland said they are investigating the incident, adding guest safety is their top priority.

The Swing of the Century was one of the 26 original rides located on-site when Canada’s Wonderland opened on May 23, 1981, according to the park’s website.

The ride takes up to 48 riders through the air in individual seats that are raised and lowered.

“An individual lap bar and a between-the-legs safety belt secures each rider,” according to the ride’s description.

The ride was inspected by Technical Safety and Standard Authority officials after the fall and was deemed safe, police told reporters.
