17-year-old arrested after loaded gun found in vehicle in Brampton

A 17-year-old has been charged with several firearm-related offences after police recovered a gun following a vehicle search in Brampton on Saturday.
Peel Regional Police stopped a vehicle shortly before 10:30 a.m. near North Park Drive and Mackay Street.
Police say after further investigations, a loaded .45-calibre Smith and Wesson handgun was found.
The 17-year-old boy from Brampton was arrested and charged with multiple firearm offences. These charges include being an occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm and knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm.
He was held for a bail hearing in Brampton court.
The suspect’s name and identity have not been shared with the public, as he is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, which prohibits the release of a young person’s name.
