15-year-old charged after Mississauga carjacking

A youth from Brampton who is not old enough to have a learner’s permit faces charges in relation to a recent carjacking, where several suspects remain at large.
Peel Regional Police said the incident occurred in Mississauga at around 3 a.m. last Saturday (June 11). The victim was sitting in their vehicle in the area of Derry Road and Hurontario Street, when multiple suspects began banging on the exterior of the vehicle.
One suspect demanded the victim exit the vehicle, the victim complied. Once outside of the vehicle, the victim was punched in the head by a suspect, sustaining minor physical injuries. The suspects then entered the victim’s vehicle and fled the area.
The police say that quick actions from officers in 11 and 22 Division criminal investigation bureaus, in addition to Toronto Police Services, led to locating and arresting one suspect in Toronto.
The vehicle was recovered at the time of the arrest. Several suspects remain outstanding .
“These violent crimes are traumatizing for the victims, their families and are unacceptable in our community. Peel Regional Police is increasing resources to combat this intolerable crime”, PRP Deputy Chief Nick Milinovich stated on Tuesday (June 14).
A 15-year-old youth from Brampton, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act , has been charged with;
- Possession of property Obtained by Crime
- Robbery
They were released on an undertaking and will have a court appearance at a future date.
