15 new high-rise towers could bring more than 6,600 units to Brampton

A proposed housing project made up of 15 highrise towers could bring more than 6,600 units and a new public park to Queen Street in Brampton.

Development applications have been filed to the city that could see the Bramrose Square shopping plaza in east Brampton transformed into a mixed-used highrise development.

With towers between 24 and 68 storeys tall, the new development could increase the city’s housing stock by 6,629 units. If approved,  construction would be split across the lifespan of the project into seven phases.

The site is already home to a No Frills grocery store, a furniture gallery, several restaurants and a retail plaza, and developers say the grocery store would be “retained and relocated” to a central location in the new community.

“In addition, a centrally located public park and open green space is proposed within Phase 4 of the project,” part of the application reads.

The proposed development would include more than 8,000 combined surface and underground parking stalls, over 49,000 square feet of retail space, and more than 100,000 square feet of office space.

If approved, the project by Starbank Development Group, Turner Fleischer Architects and Gagnon Walker Domes is expected to bring more than 5.6 million square feet of residential space to Brampton.

The development application is currently in review by the city.
