A 14-year-old took their parents’ vehicle to get food this morning and crashed on Highway 401 in Mississauga.

The teen drove the vehicle on Highway 401 and rear-ended another vehicle in the Mississauga Road area Friday (July 5) around 6:30 a.m., OPP Constable Tim Dunnah told insauga.com.

The van ended up in a ditch and caught fire, Dunnah said.

The teen and a passenger fled but OPP officers caught up with them. The teen faces charges of careless driving, drive motor vehicle no license and fail to remain, OPP later added.

The driver who was rear-ended suffered minor injuries, Dunnah said.
