13 year-old sexually assaulted by a man impersonating a police officer in Brampton

A 33-year-old man is facing charges of sexual assault and impersonating an officer in Brampton.

On Thursday (Sept. 21) shortly before 5 p.m., police say a 13-year-old girl was walking through a plaza situated in the vicinity of Bovaird Dr. and Mountainash Rd., southeast of Torbram Rd.

According to investigators, it is alleged that the suspect falsely identified himself as a police officer and then sexually assaulted the victim.

Police have identified the suspect as Anushan Jeyakumar, (33) who is a resident of Brampton.

He has been arrested and is facing several criminal charges including impersonating a peace officer, forcible confinement, and sexual interference.

Jayakumar has been detained pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.

Investigators suspect the possibility of additional victims in this case.
