One person was sent to hospital following a two-alarm fire at a Mississauga home.
Fire crews were called to a large, two-storey home on Forest Hill Drive, near Eglinton Avenue and Erin Mills Parkway, around 1:10 a.m. Tuesday (July 11), Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services tells insauga.com.
“Heavy smoke and deep seated fire,” Mississauga Fire Chief Deryn Rizzi said in a tweet.
One person was transported to hospital for smoke inhalation — there were no other residents in the home at the time of the fire.
A firefighter was also accessed by paramedics for a heat-related illness but was released. And news reports indicate a neighbour was also transported to hospital for a smoke-related injury.
The fire caused significant damage to the home, and the Office of the Fire Marshal was contacted. The cause of the fire is under investigation and is not yet known.
As of 7:15 a.m., fire crews were still on scene conducting a fire watch.
