Audie Capuchino thought there was something wrong with his cell phone when he went to check his lottery ticket.
But the Mississauga man quickly discovered that nothing at all was wrong. In fact, everything was right when he learned that he and his wife, Maria, had won $1 million in the Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball draw on Jan. 18.
Audie says he thought his phone was acting up after checking his ticket on the OLG App.
“I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the $1 million prize amount. I thought there was something wrong with the app, so I asked Maria to confirm the win,” he shared while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to collect the winnings.
“I just couldn’t believe it,” Maria added. “I feel excited and happy. I am so thankful.”
The couple plans to put their win in the bank until they decide their next steps.
“We want to think this over and make sure that not a penny is wasted,” Maria said.
The winning ticket was purchased at Shoppers Drug Mart, on Elmcreek Rd. in Mississauga.
