1.8 million Tesla vehicles recalled for faulty hood in North America

Telsa vehicles are being recalled for a faulty hood, which could cause a crash.
The impacted vehicles’ hood latch assembly may fail to detect an unlatched hood after the hood has been opened, according to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recall notice.
“An unlatched hood can fully open, obstructing the driver’s view and increasing the risk of a crash,” the notice states.
Certain 2021-2024 Model 3, Model S, Model X, and 2020-2024 Model Y vehicles are part of the recall.
Tesla has released an over-the-air software update, free of charge and owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on Sept. 22, 2024.
Tesla has continued to look at the issue and found that the rates of occurrence were higher in China than in Europe and North America, but the reason for that disparity is unknown, according to media reports.
The recall is listed on the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration site but not on the Transport Canada website.
The last recall for Tesla vehicles in Canada was in May for a faulty seat belt chime on certain vehicles.
