Canadian Family Body Missing

Shock and confusion are surrounding one Canadian family as the body of a family member has yet to be returned to Canada.

According to multiple sources, the Jajour family from Laval, Que. have been waiting over a month for the return of Faraj Jajour, a husband and father of two who died of a heart attack in Cuba last month.

Multiple accounts indicate that Faraj passed away on March 22 and since his death, members of the Jajour family have been trapped in a neverending cycle of red tape while trying to get the body back home. Reports say that after waiting nearly a month for the return of Faraj’s body, the Jajour family ended up receiving the body of a complete stranger this week.

Reports indicate that the body that arrived in Laval was that of a Russian man covered in tattoos and decades younger than Faraj. This has sent the Jajour family into an even deeper spiral of frustration, as the family was initially forced to scrape $10,000 together for the transport of what they thought was Faraj’s body.

This price tag came from the Canadian Consulate, as upon Faraj’s death, the family was informed that federal agencies could do nothing to assist them financially. Recent reports indicate that the family immediately reestablished contact with the Canadian Consulate upon receiving the wrong body.

The Jajours were then informed that responsibility for Faraj’s body fell to a third-party Cuban insurance company.  The family has publicly stated they have never been in contact with this insurance company — in any capacity — and that several organizations are now looking into the whereabouts of Faraj’s remains.

At the time of publication, Faraj’s body has yet to be located.
