An alleged impaired driver from Brampton has been charged with causing the death of a woman in a Markham crash last week.

The fatal collision happened on June 17 shortly before 1:45 p.m. when York Regional Police say they were called to the area of Don Mills Road and Simonston Boulevard.

Police say two sedans and a box truck were involved in the crash, with investigators saying the male driver of the cargo truck was headed southbound when he crossed the centre lane into oncoming traffic.

The truck then collided with the two vehicles and a 33-year-old female driver was pronounced dead at the scene, police say.

Police say the driver of the second sedan was transported to hospital with minor injuries, while the driver of the box truck was arrested and also suffered minor injuries.

York Regional Police say Trevor Hepburn, 55, of Caledon was arrested and charged with one count each of impaired operation causing death and dangerous operation causing death.
