Mississauga lottery winners Cash for Life.

As George Flowers tells the story, he calmly walked over to his wife, Angela, and delivered the good news that they’d just won $25,000 a year for life playing the lottery.

The Mississauga couple, who are both retired, were recently at the store to check their tickets when George was surprised to learn of their good fortune. Their Daily Grand ticket contained all five main winning numbers in the April 8 draw to grab second prize for them.

“We went to the store to check our existing tickets and pick up a couple new ones. Angela was in line when I scanned our Daily Grand ticket on the ticket checker,” George recalled while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up their winnings.

“I saw we had won $25,000 a year for life. I went over to Angela and said, ‘I think we won some money’,’” he added with a smile.

“When he came over to me, I said, ‘Really?’ and handed the ticket to the store clerk asking that they check it to make sure,” said Angela. “Sure enough, it was real. My cheeks hurt from smiling so much. When we told our kids, they were so happy for us.”

“It’s a good feeling,” George added.

The Flowers have been playing the lottery together for 20 years, OLG officials said in a news release, adding this is their first big win. While Angela enjoys playing Lotto Max and Lotto 6/49, George’s favourite game is Daily Grand.

The lotto winners plan to travel, do some home renovations and share with family.

The winning ticket was purchased at 7-Eleven, on Lisgar Drive in Mississauga
