Win $500 and support local charities at Brampton Half Marathon

From casual runners to fierce competitors, the Brampton Half Marathon is back and bigger than ever with cash prizes to keep Brampton active and support local charities.
Hundreds of runners have already registered for this year’s marathon which will see racers work up a sweat for a day of physical activity and community building.
With courses ranging from 400 metres to the half-marathon 10-kilometre run, organizers say there’s something for every age group and all skill levels at this year’s event with top prizes of $500.
Mayor Patrick Brown called the Brampton Half Marathon “the best charity fundraiser imaginable” as it encourages wellness and healthy living in the community while supporting programs like Enlight Kids, the Drug Awareness Society of Toronto and others.
There will be both casual and competitive runs ranging from 5 kilometres to 20 kilometres and separate heats for both male and female runners. There’s also a 400-metre run for toddlers and a 1-kilometre course for youth and seniors.
Racers in the competitive runs can win cash prizes of $500 for the 20K, $300 for the 10K and $200 for the 5K.

Mayor Patrick Brown called the Brampton Half Marathon “the best charity fundraiser imaginable” and said he hopes to see the marathon grow into “an iconic running event” comparable to runs in Mississauga, Toronto and Ottawa.
Brampton has the highest rates of diabetes across the province, and Brown said taking part in activities like the half marathon is also a way to keep active and support health care in Brampton as healthier residents means less reliance on local hospitals.
“That’s what running’s about – that’s why the city believes so much in active transportation,” he said.
Registration for the competitive marathons is open now while casual runners can sign up on the day of the event.
The 2024 Brampton Half Marathon runs on May 26 starting at Terry Fox Track & Field Stadium. The registration desk will open at 7 a.m. with the 20k half marathon starting at 7:45 a.m.
