Warmer temperatures and sunshine now through Easter long weekend in Ontario

After enduring a week of challenging winter conditions, residents can breathe a sigh of relief as the cold and snow give way to returning sunshine and warmer temperatures.
Last week, regions including Mississauga, Brampton, Halton, Hamilton, and Durham were hit with cold winds and ended with a blizzard that dumped 15 to 20 cm of snow. After a tough Saturday of shovelling snow while battling blustering winds, things are looking up for southern Ontario as warmer, spring-like weather comes back.
As of today (March 24), skies will be mainly clear throughout the day with temperatures hovering around 0 C. Winds could shift southeast, gusting up to 40 km/h. Evening temperatures are expected to drop to -5 C, feeling closer to -12 C with the wind chill, while skies will turn partly cloudy by midnight.
Monday will kick off with chilly -11 C temperatures and 50 km/h winds in the morning, but conditions will improve, setting the stage for a nice start to the week. As the day unfolds, there will be plenty of sunshine and clear skies with daytime highs warming up to 6 C. Closer to the evening, temperatures will drop slightly but remain above freezing around 3 C. Fast-moving winds of 50km/h will return and could stay overnight.
Sunny weather will be replaced by cloudy skies on Tuesday and Wednesday, accompanied by a 40 per cent chance of rain on both days. Despite the potential for damp weather, temperatures are expected to rise to 8 C on Tuesday and climb to 12 C on Wednesday, making it the week’s warmest days. By the evening on Tuesday, temperatures won’t cool down much, maybe a couple of degrees to 6 C—which is the warmest night compared to the week. However, Wednesday night temperatures will fall to a crisp -1 C.
According to Environment Canada, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday will typically look the same, with a mix of sun and clouds. Temperatures will soar between 6 C and 7 C, where they will remain for the greater part of the day. By the evening, temperatures will move to a low of -4 C as cloudy periods settle in.

With no snow or rain in the forecast for Good Friday (March 29) and Easter Monday (April 1), residents can enjoy the long weekend by spending time outdoors with family and friends, perhaps even setting up an egg scavenger hunt for the kids.
Meteorologists say that the first week of April will bring another wave of warmer days and cooler nights; though one has to wonder: Is spring finally making its entrance?
