A transport truck fire closed a portion of Hwy. 401 in Mississauga Friday (Oct. 7) morning.
The transport truck was fully engulfed in the eastbound lanes of Hwy. 401 beyond Winston Churchill Boulevard, OPP said in a tweet at 8:32 a.m. There were no injuries reported, police said.
Fire crews extinguished the blaze but the clean up was expected to take some time. Traffic was moving slowly as only one lane was open. This was made more difficult by express lanes still under construction in the area.
The cause of the fire was likely a mechanical issue — there was no collision, OPP Sgt.Kerry Schmidt tells insauga.com.
Mississauga OPP is investigating.
