Video of a man fighting to get his bank card back from a pair of alleged robbers and possible car thieves has police searching for suspects in Brampton.

The altercation started while a man was walking through the parking lot of a Chalo Freshco grocery store on Cottrelle Boulevard in Brampton on Thursday, Peel Regional Police have confirmed to Insauga.com.

That’s when police say suspects approached the man and tried to steal the victim’s bank card.

The victim struggled with the thieves who were in a blue Toyota Corolla, eventually grabbing the steering wheel of the attacker’s vehicle.

Police say the victim was dragged a short distance before the would-be thieves crashed into a tree, a fire hydrant, and a parked vehicle.

Video of the incident captured by a bystander and posted on social media shows the Toyota accelerating through the parking lot with the victim hanging off the driver’s side window. The driver then slams into reverse with the man still hanging on before crashing.

Copies of the video shared online claimed to be of an attempted carjacking, but police say that was not the case as the blue Corolla driven by the suspects had already been reported stolen.

The two suspects then take off on foot, dropping several items as they make their low-speed getaway.

Police say the victim managed to get their stolen bank card back in the tussle and did not suffer any serious injuries.

No arrests have been made and police have not released any descriptions of the suspects but the investigation is ongoing.
