Two people taken to hospital after collision at busy Mississauga intersection

Two people have been taken to a local hospital after a collision at busy intersection early Monday evening (June 17) in Mississauga.

Peel Regional Police responded to calls of a crash possibly involving multiple vehicles at Ridgeway Drive and Burnhamthorpe Road around 6:47 p.m.

A male driver has been taken to a local hospital. A female driver of another vehicle has been transported to a nearby trauma centre.

The extent of their injuries is not known at this time.

Police are asking commuters in the area to use alternate routes while police continue to investigate the collision.

UPDATE: As of 6:39 a.m. on Tuesday, police say the roadway has reopened.
