It’s going to be a mostly cloudy and humid week with chances of rain in southern Ontario.

After several days of extreme heat warnings from Environment Canada, with daytime highs between 30 and 35 degrees Celsius and humidex values reaching 40 to 45, the region experienced another extreme weather near the weekend. Heavy rain and thunderstorms moved in, prompting Environment Canada to issue a new weather advisory, highlighting the significant shift in conditions and urging residents to prepare for severe weather.

Today (June 23), the weather is expected to be partly cloudy with a 30 per cent chance of rain. Daytime temperatures will reach 27 C, with strong winds potentially increasing to 70 km/h before easing to a brisk 40 km/h in the evening.

The skies will clear up by the evening as temperatures dip to 16 C. However, thunderstorms are possible across the region.

Monday will be mainly cloudy with sunny breaks. There is a slight chance of morning rain, accompanied by a 30 km/h breeze. Temperatures will reach 27 C but will feel much warmer with the humidex hitting 30. The UV index is expected to be very high at level 7.

Environment Canada advises protecting your skin when the UV index is three or higher, particularly between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The night skies will be clear as temperatures fall to 15 C.

Tuesday will bring a mix of sun and clouds, with a 30 per cent chance of rain. Temperatures will once again reach a high of 27 C for the third consecutive day. By evening, the skies will turn cloudy and temperatures will drop to 18 C, while rain is expected to return.

Wednesday will be predominantly cloudy with a 30 per cent chance of showers. Temperatures will rise to 24 C where it will remain for the greater part of the day. As evening approaches, temperatures will move down to 11 C, making it one of the cooler nights of the week.

Thursday and Friday will be nearly identical, with a mix of sunshine and cloudy periods. No rain is expected on these days, and temperatures will remain warm and comfortable, ranging between 23 C and 27 C. The skies will become cloudier in the evening with temperatures dropping to 11 C on Thursday and 19 C on Friday.

On Saturday, sunshine will give way to rain with temperatures soaring to 29 C, the highest of the week. By evening, temperatures will dip to 19 C, making it a relatively warm night.

The last week of June looks somewhat the same with on-and-off rain and a bit of sunshine. Temperature highs will peak at 27 C, while temperature lows will hit 13 C.
