The big savings businesses in Mississauga can get via a free program from Credit Valley Conservation

Local businesses in Mississauga can learn how to save thousands of dollars with a program from Credit Valley Conservation (CVC).

The CVC’s Greening Corporate Grounds (GCG) program helps businesses implement environmental initiatives that can reduce the costs of their water bill, property management fees, and other similar costs.

The program is completely free of charge for businesses and institutions located in the Credit River Watershed.

Business owners are encouraged to check CVC’s website or contact [email protected] to see if they qualify for a free sustainable landscaping site assessment and action plan.

There are a few key ways GCG can help businesses save money:

1. Protect your business from property damage

Extreme weather, including flooding and strong winds, can disrupt operations and cause damages, which may be costly to fix. GCG helps businesses create a landscaping action plan to mitigate these risks and save money in the future.

2. Find ways to reduce property costs

The program’s action plan includes an assessment of your business’ location and exterior maintenance, which can reveal opportunities to change your infrastructure for the better and reduce costs, such as municipal stormwater charges.

3. Build your reputation to attract more customers and employees

In an increasingly eco-conscious world, customers feel good about supporting sustainable businesses. GCG will help your business demonstrate a commitment to the environment, which will build brand loyalty and attract customers as well as talented employees.

4. Plan now to save money on future projects

Achieving the best return on investment requires smart planning and a clear vision for the future. Will your property require a new parking lot or a new roof in the next two to five years? GCG will help you figure out what your business needs and how to achieve it in the most cost-effective manner.

Credit Valley Conservation says brick and mortar businesses need a sustainable landscaping plan for the same reasons they need a business plan: to understand the corporate landscape and identify potential opportunities and obstacles to make informed decisions.

“But unlike a business plan, a sustainable landscaping action plan focuses on creating a roadmap to enhance and sustainably manage the natural and exterior built environment,” says CVC.

Credit Valley Conservation is a community-based environmental organization dedicated to protecting, restoring and managing the natural resources of the Credit River Watershed.

Established in 1954, they currently work with municipal governments, landowners, community organizations, schools and businesses to deliver a wide range of locally-based programs centred around protecting our natural environment.
