A woman is facing charges after allegedly attempting to steal items from a garage and striking multiple vehicles while attempting to flee from police in Oakville.

Halton police say that around 8:15 p.m. on April 23, officers responded to a report of a break-and-enter incident in progress at a home in the Sixth Line and Dundas Street East area. Police allege the homeowner confronted a woman attempting to steal items from their garage, prompting the suspect to flee in an allegedly stolen vehicle reported missing from Minesing, Ont.

Police allege that the suspect collided with the homeowner’s vehicle while trying to leave and drove a short distance before being trailed by officers. During the pursuit, a tire deflation device was deployed and the suspect was stopped and arrested in the Trafalgar Road and Upper Middle Road area. Police allege that the suspect made “intentional contact with police vehicles during the pursuit which resulted in damage to three police cruisers.”

Police say the homeowner and officers were not injured during the collisions.

Police allege that prescription medications, cocaine, crack cocaine and other substances were found in the suspect’s vehicle.

Police say the suspect, 26-year-old Chelsi Wade, is facing multiple charges, including fleeing from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, assault with intent to resist arrest, failing to comply with a release order, possession for the purpose of trafficking and more.

The accused has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The charges have not been proven in court.
