Second lottery win brings prize to over $373,000 for truck driver from Caledon

A truck driver from Caledon is planning to share the wealth after scoring his second big lottery win.

Robert McLaughlin has been playing Lotto 6/49 and other lottery games for the past 20 years, landing a $296,000 Lottario win back in 2001.

The Caledon truck driver says he was at home when he decided to check his tickets for the April 20 Lotto 6/49 draw and was at first confused when he saw he was a winner.

“I thought, ‘Does that look right?'” he recalled of the win while picking up his windfall at the OLG prize centre in Toronto. “I said to my wife, ‘I think I won $77,000!’ and scanned the ticket for her. She started screaming with excitement.”

McLaughlin says he was surprised by an “unbelievable” win for the second time.

“It took a while to sink in. I kept thinking, ‘I can’t believe it happened again,'” he said.

He will pay some bills and share his winnings with his children.

McLaughlin says he plans to use the money to pay off some bills and share the rest of the winnings with his children.

The Lotto 6/49 Classic Draw offers a fixed $5 million jackpot for every draw. The OLG says it supports safe play and responsible gambling through its PlaySmart program.

The winning ticket was purchased at Pik N Go Shoppe on Hurontario Street in Brampton.
