Poker player goes ‘all in’ with 2 lottery wins worth more than $160,000 in Brampton

A poker player from Brampton must have had an ace up their sleeve, going “all in” with two lottery wins worth more than $160,000.

Michael Thompson is a public service worker from Brampton who says he’s only ever dreamed of winning a big lottery prize. But that dream came true for Thompson earlier this month playing Poker Lotto All In.

“The royal flush came up and I was flabbergasted,” Thompson said while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings.

He then shared news of the win with his mother who was just as ecstatic about the win.

“I asked her if she has a good heart, as I showed her the ticket and she screamed with excitement,” he said.

Thompson says he plans to use the prize money to pay some bills, invest and share some of his windfall with his long-time friends while also treating himself to a new computer.

Poker Lotto players can opt for All In for an additional $1 to take a chance on instantly winning a jackpot that starts at $10,000 and grows until it is won. The OLG says it supports safe play and responsible gambling through its PlaySmart program.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Shopper’s Drug Mart on Avondale Boulevard in Brampton.
