Two Mississauga teens are among five people charged in connection with a carjacking and retail robbery investigation in Toronto and Peel.

The alleged incidents, days apart, began June 7 at around 10:24 p.m. in the area of Lakeshore Road East and Elizabeth Street when two men, wearing masks to hide their identities, approached a person in a vehicle.

The men opened the vehicle door and demanded the keys, before forcing the person out of the vehicle and knocking them to the ground.

The two men then fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle.

Three days later on June 10 at 7:11 p.m. in Toronto, police would respond to a call for a robbery at a mall in the area of Ellesmere Road and Brimley Road.

Five males, travelling in the stolen vehicle, arrived at the mall, where four of them entered and walked into a jewelry store sporting masks to disguise their identities.

Two of the males allegedly took out hammers and began smashing the display cases. A quantity of jewelry was stolen before the men fled in the same stolen vehicle.

The next day (June 11), police allege the same group of five males in the same stolen vehicle drove to a plaza in the Kennedy Road and Matheson Boulevard and entered an electronics store wearing masks to hide their identities.

One of males took out a firearm and demanded electronics. The men stole a quantity of electronics before taking off in the stolen vehicle.

The vehicle was shortly after involved in a collision and the Toronto Police Hold Up Squad and the Peel Regional Police would take all five men into custody.

Police allege at the time of their arrests they were able to recover four hammers along with some stolen property and items related to their investigation.

After conducting five search warrants on five men connected to the investigation, police charged:

  • a male youth, 15, from Mississauga with two counts of robbery, two counts of disguise with intent, use of imitation firearm to commit indicatable offence, possession property obtained by crime and two counts of fail to comply YCJA.
