There will be no GO Train Service in Durham Region next weekend as operator Metrolinx conducts work on the tracks.

Metrolinx announced on April 23 that they will shut down trains on the Lakeshore East line for several weekends throughout the spring. The next expected maintenance work and infrastructure updates is from May 3 to May 5.

As a result, there will be no train or GO bus service between Pickering Station and Union Station that weekend. However, Durham Region Transit and Toronto Transit will still be available. However, there will still be GO buses connecting the Durham College Oshawa, Whitby, Ajax and Pickering Stations to the Union Station Bus Terminal.

The Stouffville line is also set to be disrupted with no train service planned Union and Kennedy. Though service will continue between Kennedy and Mount Joy/Old Elm.

The work will accommodate the planned uptick in train frequency in this spring. Metrolinx is adding nearly 300 trips a week, nearly returning frequency to its pre-pandemic level.

After April 28, trains will arrive every 15 minutes in the evenings and afternoons on weekends.
