A new space that members of the public can use for meetings, activities and other events has opened in Burlington.

Called the Appleby Hub, it is located at Appleby Arena, 1201 Appleby Line and will be available daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The City already successfully operates the Haber Hub at the Haber Community Centre and the Orchard Hub located at St. Christopher’s Catholic Elementary School.

The hubs were created to provide space for residents to hold community events or activities such as training, community meetings, support groups, clubs, gatherings, cultural activities or other neighbourhood programs. They are free of charge to rent and must be booked in advance.

To qualify, the events can be one-time or ongoing but the activities must be free to participants. The cost of insurance is covered.

Businesses, for-profits, socials or any program that generates money or future businesses can rent the space at regular rates plus the cost of insurance. There will be no staff on site, and renters are required to set up and clean the room.

Four tables and 12 chairs are provided for use in the Appleby Hub.

Application forms to use the hubs can be found by following this link.
