A proposal for a 14-storey rental apartment building for Mississauga includes family-sized units.
The development proposal at 1785 Bloor St. in Applewood was praised at a city Planning and Development Committee last spring.
The proposal for one, 14-storey, 234-unit apartment building is back this month for approval. City staff is recommending the Planning and Development Committee approve the new plan.
There is a 10-storey rental apartment building already on the property but the developers plan to keep this building.
Last year, councillors praised the plans to include a high number of two- and three-bedroom units.
The initial proposal submitted in 2022 included 73 one-bedroom units, 126 two-bedroom units and 39 three-bedroom units.
But following a public meeting last May, there are a few revisions including a larger amenity area, increased number of visitor and residential parking spaces; and modifications to the overall site layout. The building access will be on the east side off Bloor Street.
The City of Mississauga staff report says “the proposed development adds to the range of housing options in the area, demonstrates an appropriate unit mix to accommodate larger family-sized units, and offers a built form that is compatible with the surrounding neighbourhood.”
The Planning and Development Committee will consider the plans at the next meeting on Monday, April 29.
