Multiple schools on partial lockdown after shooting in Brampton

8 people injured in possible peeper spray assault in Brampton

Police put several schools on hold-and-secure orders following a shooting that left one man injured and has officers searching for a suspect in Brampton.

The shooting happened shortly before 2:30 in the area of Chinguacousy Park in Brampton, Peel Regional Police say.

One person was shot and transported to hospital in stable condition, according to police. Investigators have not released any details about the victim but a spokesperson for Peel Paramedic Services says an adult male victim was treated at the scene for a gunshot wound.

The man was rushed to hospital in stable condition, paramedics said.

Peel police said close to a dozen schools near Chinguacousy Park in the area of Queen Street and Bramalea Road were placed on hold-and-secure orders as a precaution while police are investigating.

Investigators have not released a description of the suspect. Students and residents can expect to see a large police presence in the area while the investigation is underway.

The partial lockdowns were lifted around 4:45 p.m. and police say the investigation is ongoing.
