Drop-in test drives for EVs

As the demand for electric vehicles (EVs) continues to trend upward, many cities in Ontario have been incentivizing education on electric transportation. In response to this new wave of EV awareness, the City of Mississauga is launching a Community EV Day, to help educate residents on the benefits of electric vehicle usage.

The event is scheduled for June 22 at the Burnhamthorpe Community Centre and will feature numerous seminars and hands-on events.

Additional guests at the Community EV day will include the Mississauga EV Society and the City of Mississauga’s forestry team, who will be engaging in a free tree giveaway for residents with enough room on their property to plant an extra sapling.

Information provided at the event will also feature an introduction to the history of Mississauga’s fleet of city EVs and details on the work they provide.

Beyond the incentives to help residents understand the positive impact of EVs, the community event will also allow attendees to test drive an electric vehicle on a drop-in basis. EV test driving is contributed on behalf of the  Plug’n Drive test drive association.

Next week’s event will be the only time Mississauga residents can test drive an EV on a drop-in basis, however, scheduled test drives can be made with Plug’n Drive for the rest of June.
