Man thrown for car fatal Brampton crash charges

A hit-and-run rollover crash that left one man dead in Brampton earlier this year has led to charges for a man near Hamilton.

The fatal crash happened around 4:15 a.m. on Jan. 14 when Peel Regional Police say the driver of a vehicle crashed into a pole.

Only one vehicle was involved in the collision and police say the driver rolled over, throwing one of the passengers from the vehicle.

The adult male passenger was pronounced dead at the scene after being “ejected from the car,” police say.

But police say the driver, who has been identified as a 29-year-old man from Paris, Ont., and several other passengers fled the scene following the crash. Now, more than two months after the fatal collision, police say an arrest was made on March 19.

Sukhjinder Singh, 29, of Paris, has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation causing death and failure to stop after accident resulting in death.

The accused was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton at a later date.

Paris is approximately 47 kilometres west of Hamilton.

Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dash camera footage to contact Peel Regional Police by calling 905-453–2121 ext. 3710. Anonymous tips may also be submitted by calling Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or by visiting www.peelcrimestoppers.ca.
