Road partially closes near QEW in Mississauga.

A section of a main road next to the QEW in Mississauga will partially shut down to traffic for four weeks as work continues on the highway bridge over the Credit River.

Officials with the QEW/Credit River Improvement Project overseeing the major bridge rehabilitation work said in an email update this week one lane will be closed on a section of Premium Way just to the north of the highway between July 4 and 31.

The lane reduction, to take place between Stavebank and Dickson roads, will be in place on weekdays from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. There will be no lane reductions on Saturdays and Sundays, officials noted.

During the lane reduction period, two-way traffic will be maintained at all times under flagging conditions and access to Dickson Road and Lynchmere Avenue will be maintained at all times as well.

Meanwhile, temporary lane closures on the QEW at night and during the overnight hours continue as crews ramp up work during the summer.

Temporary nighttime/overnight closures and other restrictions have been commonplace since 2022 both on the QEW and nearby roads due to the massive bridge project that began nearly three years ago.

More traffic disruptions are anticipated as work continues in the coming weeks and months. Night and weekend work along the 2.6-km stretch of the QEW from Hurontario Street to Mississauga Road, and beyond, is expected to impact traffic for the duration of the project.
