Hudon’s Bay is not leaving the Burlington Centre any time soon.

In fact, the department store will stick around in the mall at least until February of next year and continue with its store closing sale.

A representative of the company has confirmed that despite initial plans to close this month, the store will remain open for the time being.

No reason was given for the extended stay which is now expected to last until Feb. 9, 2025.

A year ago Hudson’s Bay announced it was pulling out of the 777 Guelph Line location due to changes in the marketplace and because the store is also located at nearby Mapleview Mall.

At that time the Burlington Centre location announced it would be used to clear out merchandise until the doors close for the final time.

Once the store closes, there are no immediate plans to fill the space at the mall.

Simpson-Sears was the original anchor store for the mall in 1969 but it sold its store lease and fixtures to The Bay in 1991.
