Halton police will be increasing their presence in Oakville parks beginning Friday.

Police on Park Patrol is an annual partnership between the Halton Regional Police Service and the Town of Oakville Municipal Enforcement Services.

“With the arrival of warmer weather an increasing number of Oakville residents are heading to town parks, school grounds and trail systems,” said a police spokesperson.

“As a result, both the HRPS and Oakville Municipal Enforcement Services receive an increased level of complaints and calls for service related to issues in these public spaces.”

The goal of the enforcement project is to help ensure everyone can enjoy these spaces safely with increased patrols at a number of municipal parks, school properties and trails across Oakville.

The project will include enforcement of town by-laws as well as Provincial and Criminal statutes, including:

  • Mischief
  • Loitering
  • Underage drinking/drug use
  • Disturbances
  • Noise complaints

This project will run from Friday, June 28, until Sept. 1.

Members of the community can continue to call the Halton Regional Police Service non-emergency line 905-825-4777 to report nuisance-related concerns.
