brampton garden contest recognition program 2024

Gardeners can show off their hard work helping make Brampton beautiful with the return of Brampton’s residential gardening competition.

The annual Gardens of Brampton Recognition Program lets residents submit a picture of their gardens in exchange for a chance to be recognized by the city with a yard sign based on their visual appeal and maintenance.

Nearly 200 residents submitted their gardens last year with 75 receiving praise from the city, and this year will see a handful of gardens selected as the best in Brampton.

It’s all part of Brampton’s Grow Green Environmental Master Plan which aims to make Brampton a more environmentally sustainable community, and judges will consider gardeners’ use of environmentally friendly methods, along with weed control, use of special features like ponds and garden sculptures and other features.

The deadline to enter the Gardens of Brampton Recognition Program is Aug. 1. Here are some details to keep in mind before submitting your entry:

  • One photo per household
  • Landscape (horizontal) view that captures the entire front garden
  • No pets, people, or easily identifiable house numbers
  • Photos should be taken during the day for the best lighting
  • Acceptable file formats are high-resolution quality JPG or PNG files
  • Photos must be submitted via the registration form on Brampton.ca (photos sent via social media or email will not be accepted)

Gardens selected for the recognition program will receive signage while the city, the Brampton Horticultural Society and the Chinguacousy Garden Club will be judges for the best front gardens in the city.
