QEW lanes closures in Mississauga June 2024.

Four lanes and several ramps on the QEW in Mississauga will shut down to traffic nights and overnights at various times in the next week as work continues on the highway bridge over the Credit River.

Officials with the QEW/Credit River Improvement Project overseeing the major bridge rehabilitation work said in an email update late this week that two eastbound and two westbound lanes between Erin Mills Parkway and Hurontario Street will close nightly through June 21 from as early as 10 p.m. some nights until as late as 8 a.m. on some of the following mornings.

In addition, the QEW eastbound off-ramp to Hurontario Street will be shut down from midnight until 5 a.m. on Monday and Wednesday.

The westbound on-ramp to the highway from Hurontario Street will close to traffic tonight (June 14) from midnight until 5 a.m. Saturday morning, according to project leaders.

Also, the westbound on-ramp from South Sheridan Way will fully close tonight during the same period. The QEW eastbound on-ramp from South Sheridan Way will also be impacted.

Meanwhile, lane reductions on major roads beside the QEW are also scheduled from time to time.

Through June 28, Premium Way from Stavebank Road to Lynchmere Avenue will be reduced to one lane on weekdays from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Officials said two-way traffic will be maintained at all times under flagging conditions and access to Dickson Road will be maintained at all times as well.

Temporary nighttime/overnight closures and other restrictions have been commonplace since 2022 both on the QEW and nearby roads due to the massive bridge project that began nearly three years ago.

More traffic disruptions are anticipated as work continues in the coming weeks and months. Night and weekend work along the 2.6-km stretch of the QEW from Hurontario Street to Mississauga Road, and beyond, is expected to impact traffic for the duration of the project.
