Outstanding students Halton Catholic board students from Oakville, Burlington, Milton and Halton Hills were recognized at a special ceremony.

Each year, the Halton Catholic District School Board celebrates exceptional students across the region at the annual Student Awards of Excellence Ceremony.

This year’s 36th annual event was held Monday, April 22.at Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School in Oakville.

The Student Awards of Excellence are presented annually to a student from each elementary and secondary school who has demonstrated outstanding qualities in Catholic leadership, family commitment, involvement in school affairs and community activities.

The Spirit of Inclusion Award was created by the Special Education Advisory Committee and is presented each year to elementary and secondary students who demonstrate a commitment to school activities and to their community; making their peers feel valued and respected.

For the first time this year, the Award of Excellence for Multilingual Students was presented to two newcomer students in any grade from an elementary and a secondary school. This award recognizes the perseverance and efforts of newcomer students through their transition to a new environment and learning a new language.
