Brampton traffic stop leads to firearm, drug charges for Burlington man

A traffic stop in Brampton lead to numerous firearm-related and drug charges for a Burlington man.

Peel Regional Police officers were conducting a traffic stop in the area of Kennedy Rd. and Clarence St. last Friday (May 3) when an inspection of a vehicle led police to locating a loaded Tarus G2 9mm firearm.

The driver was arrested and charged with numerous firearms offences.

Dy’Quan Young, 21, of Burlington, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition knowing its possession is unauthorized
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was an unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Possession of a firearm, etc. contrary to order
  • Tampering with serial number of firearm
  • Driving a motor vehicle with open container of liquor
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl)
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine)
  • Driving with a hand-held communication device
  • Driving vehicle with cannabis readily available

Dy’Quan was held for bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
