The harbour area in Mississauga was evacuated in the early morning hours for a boat fire.
Fire crews were called to the blaze at the Port Credit Harbour Marina, 1 Port St., just after midnight today (April 19) for a boat fire, Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services said.
Photos from the scene posted on Facebook show a large column of black smoke billowing from the marina.
“Explosion and then the flames,” one person wrote on the Port Credit Friends Facebook group. “Quick 911 response. Now just smoke and steam.”
The boat was on a lift and out of the water. There were no injuries and the fire did not damage other boats, a Mississauga Fire spokesperson tells insauga.com.
Snug Harbour was evacuated for a short time due to smoke migration.
The cause of the fire is not yet known. A fire investigator was on scene this morning.
