Attempted robbery ends with conspiracy charge for 2 men from Caledon and Oshawa

Three men including two from Caledon and Oshawa are facing a conspiracy charge after an alleged violent attempted robbery last week.

Investigators with the OPP have released few details about the incident but say the charges stem from an attempted robbery on Friday in West Nipissing, approximately 88 kilometres east of Sudbury.

The OPP says officers were called to Des Cedres Street shortly before 12 p.m. with members of the police tactics and rescue unit.

Police haven’t said whether any injuries were reported, however, a 32-year-old from Oshawa, a 27-year-old from Caledon and a 32-year-old from Cobourg were all arrested and charged with attempted robbery with violence, among other offences.

The OPP says Keino Heath, 32, of Oshawa, David Newman, 27, of Caledon, and Roderick Newman, 32, of Cobourg, have all been charged with one count each of conspiracy to commit indictable offence, attempted robbery with violence, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

The accused were held for a bail hearing and are scheduled to make a court appearance in North Bay on Tuesday.
