5 international flights for under $700 from Mississauga and Hamilton, Ontario

A new travel report found five flights for under $700 from Ontario airports this spring and summer.

As many struggle with affordability challenges with everything from food to rent increases, a vacation may not be in the cards this year.

Many people may cut out travel as it is thought to be too expensive.

A recent survey found 52 per cent of Canadians don’t believe it’s likely to find roundtrip airfare for less than $700, according to Skyscanner, an online search aggregator and travel agency.

But Skyscanner found five destinations with flights from Pearson Airport in Mississauga and John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport for under $700. The prices are based on searches done in mid-April.

Reykjavik, Iceland

There are flights from the low-cost airline Play from Hamilton starting at $367 for a round trip. Nature lovers will enjoy the landscape and geothermal pools but Iceland is also known for art and cuisine.

Barcelona, Spain

Play airlines has flights starting at just over $500 and Air Transit has flights starting at $709 to this sunny destination in May. The flights start at around $680 in June.  The city offers a “kaleidoscope of cultural events” from the iconic architecture of Gaudí to the savoury delights of tapas, according to the report.

Frankfurt, Germany

German airline Condor offers round-trip flights starting at $681 from Pearson Airport in Mississauga. Travellers can explore world-class museums and relax in the lush green parks along the Main River. Frankfurt is also a hub airport connecting to many other destinations in Europe and beyond.

Nashville, Tennessee

Those who prefer to save a bit more may want to try a destination closer to home. There are flights on WestJet for around $250 in May. This place is a must-see for country music fans with tons live performances. From the iconic Grand Ole Opry to intimate honky-tonks, travellers can discover the soulful sounds that define this city.

Los Angeles, California

Lastly, celebrity-seekers may want to plan a visit to this home of the stars. Flights on WestJet start at around $315 in July. In addition to the classic sights in Hollywood, Los Angeles has sun-soaked beaches, iconic landmarks and gourmet cuisine.
